Do I stand a good chance of getting into these USA uni's?
Hi,
I am a British citizen and live in England, but I am seriously looking at studying aeronautical engineering in the US.
I know you have to take SATS and im practising them, but I was wondering if I would stand a good chance of getting into colleges such as UCLA, MIT, and Stanford.
My GCSE results were A* A A A A B B B C getting an A in maths and physics which i know is important for aeronautical engineering,
and im taking AS-levels in History, Geography, Maths and Physics and for A level ill study Maths, Physics and History.
I don't really understand how the whole A-Levels thing works -- but ask yourself if your grades are good enough to get into Oxford or Cambridge. If the answer is "No" -- then you are unlikely to get into Stanford or MIT. If the answer is "Yes" -- then you have a shot.
UCLA will be harder for you to get into -- because 95% of those they accept are from California.

How do i apply to uni before moving to the USA as a permanent resident?
can anyone assist?!! I am moving to america ( florida) to be with my husband, ( yes, visa app is underway!) and wish to return to university to study either my nursing or social worlk degree as i have extensive experience in both areas, and have previously been accepted on both courses here in the uk ( but have not attended due to now change of circumstances!) However, the only info i can find is for international students planning on studying on a 'student visa', as technically, i will be a resident of the US, this dosent clear up my questions!!, I have emailed some universitys, but they only send me details on international students on student visa's ! HELP!!
Before applying to a University you should wait for your permanent residency to be granted and you have all of the relevant documentation at hand for evidence.
Once you have this, you can then apply to the University just like any other U.S. citizen or permanent resident would. You would however still pay the costs for an out-of-state student, until you have lived there for 6 or 12 months (it varies by state) and then you will pay the in-state costs.
Applying at this moment in time as an international student would be a waste of time and money. Just sit tight until you have moved and got your residency status.
In the mean-time you could see what the requirements for admission to the University that you wish to attend in Florida are and make sure you meet all of them and have the necessary documentation in order, such as test scores, school transcripts etc.
