Torker CX 20" Unicycle?

that's what i plan to get at my bike shop

i want to do tricks and i noticed the fork is squarish so i can do more tricks easier and put my feet up and i've heard that a torker is a decent brand

if it is not good please tell me why and reccomend your brand (i can only go to roughly 100 bucks)

if it is good please tell me why also

i want to mainly use this for tricks

Hello,

As said in a previous post, it sounds like you are just starting out. Torker is a very good brand of unicycle to star tout with an if you don't do too much abusing things to it, a Torker can also be a good brand for other, more abusive styles of riding like trials and street.

If you want to learn more about different brands and short descriptions of each, try this site: http://unicycletoday.com/brands.html

It is a big list of a bunch of the popular unicycle brands and manufacturers of today.

If you are just starting out you can also learn how to ride on that same site (just click the learn to ride image on the left).

After reading through some of those brands, it might help you decide which one is right for you.

Seeing that you're looking for around $100, you won't be able to get anything fancy. You could also look at some Sun's; they're cheap and last a long time.

My friend uses a torker CX 20", and he's been at it for around 5 years. He hasn't changed unicycles. This must prove that it's of good quality.

Best of luck!

Is the Nashbar Single Speed Road bike a good bike?

I'm looking for a new bike. A cheep(ish) single speed that will last a while (with maybe some minor repairs and upgrades). Will a Nashbar Single Speed Roadbike (link below) a good bike?

http://www.amazon.com/Nashbar-Single-Speed-Road-Bike/dp/B001NXT770

I was also looking at the SE draft but it was not hard to find out that they are..well, pieces of crap? I also really like the Torker U-district.

Well, it seems O.K. There are lots of details that are /or didn't seem available on the website that you listed as a link, so it's impossible to be specific.

It will last with proper maintenance but it is heavy. It is built from cro mo steel and the price seems a little high. There again perhaps the exchange rate has altered over time and probably I've become a bit of a bike snob as I have several fixed wheel and single speed bikes that seem to be lighter and less expensive than this one.

If you buy it, I hope you enjoy it.

It is however a great bike for starting single speed riding and for cruising and commuting.

I was reading your article on Torker History, “To the Max: The History of Torker” and I liked it, anyway I thought you could help me positively identify my Torker. I believe it to be a 1998 280X ?

I purchased it off my local graigslist from a guy with a 12 or 13 year old kid that rode it but wanted a more modern ramp-street bike, so the dad had him sell it to pay for his new bike. I thought was cool cause the dad made him make the transaction. I paid cash after talking the kid down only twenty bucks. I paid $180.00 which I was told they cost about $280.00 new ?

The story goes, the dad bought it from a BMX shop in Klamouth Falls OR. he says about 4 years ago, and that the shop let it go on clearance because it was an older floor model and they were going out of business. He gave it to the kid as a gift, but the kid never really rode it much, so the bike is is very good stock condition!

The reason I am interested in the Torker serial number is WV8A00001 and all the original decals and stickers are in very good shape! Yes I did change the Handle grips and will the pedal, because the kids changed them and put RL Freaky tires on, which I changed back to the skinwall 20×1.75 Comp IIIs as soon as I got it.

I have always liked Torker bikes, I am now 36 but as a kid I can remember my brother and neighbor having one, I could not afford one back then, but I guess now I can. I have 7 good bikes now. The bike is too nice to take out and tear up so it just sets in my room on display.

So my hope is you tell me I have something worth something, but either way it still looks good!

Thanks for any help; I do have more detailed pix!
