Threaded Headset are threaded and threadless forks interchangable?
i want to buy a new fork for a friend of mine for x-mas. he has an older very cheap walmart bike and his fork bottoms out constantly. he cant afford to buy a whole new bike so i want to buy a tougher one for him. he has a threaded Element fork right now, will a 1 1/8" threadless work? what if i use a different headset?
i am looking particularly at the Manitou Slice from jensonusa.com. its on sale for $50. i would give him one of my old headsets and a stem.
im wondering as to wether the 1 1/8" steerer will fit into the threaded headtube. his headtube looks smaller than a more modern one
It depends on the diameter of your head tube. Since the bike is a POS Wal-Mart bike, it is likely a 1" diameter head tube. A 1 1/8" fork will not work in a 1" head tube. You can still find 1" steer tube forks out there, but the selection is very limited. I would check on-line on e-bay and the various catalogs, or go to your local bike shop and ask them if they know of any forks out there.

The main unit of the Xbox 360 itself has slight double concavity in matte white or black. The official color of the white model is Arctic Chill. That offers the ability to create a list of friends, view their gamer cards, and communicate with them outside of a game via voice chat, voice messaging using the headset, video chat using the Xbox Live Vision Camera, and text messaging as well. The Xbox Live interface is completely accessible at any time during a gaming session. Simply press the silver "X" guide button and you instantly have access to any of the features of the service.
Rear end would be shorter resulting in better handling and faster acceleration. Fork rake would be standard and more comfortable to steer. Probably would have a threadless headset and an 1 1/8″ fork. (versus the hassle filled threaded headset on this bike) Would be lighter and made from better steel.
