Seat Clamp
How do I know what bike seat clamp size to get?
I have a BMX bike and I'm missing the clamp to hold the seat. How do I know what size I need? Does it say it anywhere on the bike?
Try checking the seat post (the metal tube connected to the seat), typically its written on there and that should give you an idea of what size clamp you would need (slightly larger than the post since its clamping around the frame and post. Quick release clamps have a bit of variation since you can adjust the diameter slightly but tightening the screw.

Schwinn seat clamp and bolt 1949? New
How can i build my own repair and truing stand?
i cant afford a new or even used repair stand and truing tool. i built a bootleg truing stand from and old fork and use the brake pads as a reference point. it works but only for non-disc front wheels. the stand i have now is actually a storage rack and it scuffs up the underside of the toptube. i want something that clamps the seat post.
is it possible to build a nice looking, functional repair and truing stand? i am willing to spend a few dollars but no more than $50 for the whole project.
You can buy a Park tool bike clamp and mount it to something solid. it's not a bad solution. They are not cheap thought and may cost you more than $50.
They are called top caps. You will have to go to the store that you purchased them at to replace them. Most stores that have parts like top caps have them in a limited supply and will only sell them to a customer who purchased the pool from them.
In the meantime, use duct tape. As ugly as it is, it is a multipurpose item!
