What exactly does it mean if an RA is placed on probation?
Does it mean that if one more incident were to occur, that they would be fired? Are they simply watched closer? Do they have to work more?
Also, is it common for RAs to be placed on probation?
My RA has a white board on her door and someone wrote the question, "Who in the hall would you go gay for?" The RhD is lesbian. I guess she saw it, said it was discriminatory and now my RA is on probation. I, honestly, am bisexual and don't find it so offensive to put her on probation. I love my RA to death. Plus, she didn't even write it!
An RA has to set an example, and any sort of bias incident is cause for dismissal. At most schools these days, people can be expelled for things like this. This may not have offended you, but it is offensive to a lot of people, because it assumes that being gay is a choice you make if someone of your gender is particularly attractive. That also suggests that you could choose NOT to be gay, which is what the anti-gay forces have been claiming for decades. It allows people to blame gay people for being gay.
On the other hand, if she didn't write it, and didn't have a chance to report it or take it down, she certainly shouldn't be held responsible. If someone else wrote it, and she thought it was funny and left it up there, then she would be culpable.
Being on probation means that you are being watched more closely for a period of time, and if she shows that she doesn't do these things, the probation will end without incident. However, if another bias incident occurs in which she is involved, she would be removed as RA.

very lucky or is it all to come still?
I am 22 weeks pregnant and so far the only problems i have had are;
-low blood pressure for 2 weeks when i was 15 weeks pregnant but fine ever since
-Blood Group is RHD Negative so I have to have the anti D injection
-Low BMI so have to have an extra scan to check the baby's weight at 31 weeks but at the 20 weeks scan she was measuring fine
I have had no cravings and no major ligament pains and also only a few little white stretch marks. I am still very small and can fit my size 8 still (uk size)
I am feeling kicks daily all day and she seems to sleep at night when i do!
I had hardly any morning sickness and have not had any bad days working full time so far!
I think i have had a very good pregnancy so far but most people say if you have a good pregnancy then you have a bad birth - what do you think?
I am 26 weeks today and have also been very fortunate. I had morning sickness in the beginning but it was nausea at night around after 10 pm so it wasnt that bad. I got headaches occasionally too. Other than that I got tested a week ago for gestational diabetes and have not heard anything back yet which they said was good as long as I heard nothing for the first few days. No stretch marks and still fitting into my prepregnancy clothes as well and only gained 12lbs so far. I am grateful everyday that I have been lucky so far but am hoping that I don't develop problems in the 3rd trimester!
I hope birth isnt bad!
