i troble to solve above problems so please write the complete
solution.
1) z^3=w and w^3=z. So z=z^9. So z=1 and z^8=1.
Now z^8=1 has 8 solutions, one of which is 1. So there are a total of 8 solutions for z. Not all of these give a distinct w=z^3. In fact there are only 3 pairs:
the pair at 45 and 135 degrees on the unit circle,
the pair at 90 and 270 degrees (i and -i),
and the pair at 225 and 315 degrees.
(Just draw a circle and find w for each possible z.)
2) has been answered.
3) Z_8 + Z_8 is not cyclic since each element has an order a divisor of 8. So there is no element of order 64.
Also Z_8 + Z_10 is not cyclic since each element has an order a divisor of lcm(8,10)=40. So there is no element of order 80.
