breaking in the new parts
buying a new BMX sprocket?
I have a felt Heretic 2009 BMX bike. The gearing of my bike is 38x14T and the cranks are 1 piece. I want to replace my sprocket with a Animal Lite Sprocket similar to this one http://www.danscomp.com/458002.php?cat=PARTS
I don't know if it will fit my cranks or if i have to buy new ones..

If you change the size of the sprocket you change the gear ratio. If you want it to stay the same then you will need a new hub too. If I were you I would save my money and buy a 3 piece crank set. The 3 piece crank set will be stronger, lighter, and most will have sealed bearings. You will also need to buy new peddles, because the peddles are a different size on a 3 piece crank set. For peddles I would recommend the new reinforced plastic one. They are lighter, grind better and are about 1/3 the cost of regular peddles.
