Hutch Bikes How long can you leave a guinea pig for?
Well basically, I am getting a guinea pig for christmas and my sister is getting one. So we will have 2 in a massive hutch with a run underneath. We will get them from the same hutch so they are friends and will get on. We are hoping to get 2 girls. My mum would like to get them on xmas eve so we can cuddle them and stuff on xmas day. We are going to see family on boxing day for a night and they would hopefully not be left on their own for more than 24 hours.they will be ina garage(no cars, just bikes) and would be able to go all around the hutch, including the run. When we get back, if its not freezing, they will go outside, with a warm hutch cover, lots of hay and a heat pad in their hutch. We would leave them loads of food and water etc but i don't know if they would be alright considering we have only have them for 1 day. Will I be able to leave them? and o you like the ame Dr Evil for my one?
I really think you have thought wisely and have made sure that they will be comfortable while your gone. I would suggest to keep them in the house though as the temperature will be better.
Providing they will have plenty of hay, grain and veg/fruit they will be ok.
Its nice to hear that people like yourself will make sure their animals are accommodated correctly while your away. Just make sure your back to check them with in 24 hours or make arrangments for someone else to do it for you.

Roosky Cottage Ireland
Nestled amongst the picturesque farmlands of Leitrim County, Ireland, under "Sheenun", the "Hill of the Fairies" and above the shores of Lough Melvin, stands charming Roosky Cottage. This traditional 19th century thatched cottage, the symbol of Irish Life, provides a quiet and peaceful oasis for you amid the surrounding lakeside, moorland and rolling hills.
Our home is ideally situated within a 15 minute drive of the Atlantic seaside town of Bundoran and a ½ hour from the bustling towns of Sligo and Donegal. Roosky Cottage is 3 hours from Dublin, 2 hours from Belfast and 4 hours from Shannon.
We invite you to experience our countryside retreat! Weekly and monthly rentals are available year-round. Shorter stays are available by special request.
You will feel the warmth of Roosky Cottage as you peer in the window and enter our front door.
Our cozy living room is graced with an original turf fireplace, comfortable sofa, chairs and TV.
The dining area shares this living space, providing a relaxed setting for your own home-cooked meals or a friendly card game.
Our country kitchen is furnished with a beautiful antique Irish hutch and is fully equipped with microwave/convection grill, refrigerator, oven, stove, cookware, towels, utensils and serving ware.
Each of our cozy bedrooms offer turf fireplaces, European goose down comforters, and adjoining private ceramic tiled bathrooms.
Our master bedroom with double bed has a bathroom with tub.
Our large bedroom with two twin beds is appointed with a bathroom with shower
To See and do:
You can do as little or as much as you like here. Birdwatch in our garden, read a book or take a sunset walk along the Atlantic Ocean. Look for wild hares, pheasants and other local fauna. Try out Irish recipes in the kitchen. Pick our wild garlic, sorrel and blackberries as your secret ingredients, or prepare the catch of the day from Lough Melvin!!!
Challenging trout and salmon fishing is right out our door on Lough Melvin. Fishing boats and guides are available for rental nearby. …or take a sea fishing charter on Donegal Bay from Mullaghmore or Ballyshannon.
Golfers can choose between 3 magnificent links courses during their stay: Bundoran Golf Club a 69 par 18- hole course 15 minutes away; Sligo Golf Club (Rosses Point) a championship 71 par course, 25 minutes drive and Donegal Golf Club (Murvagh) an 18 hole course with a par of 73 just 25 minutes away.
Hillwalking and strolling abounds here. Just 5 minutes drive from us is picturesque Fowley's Falls, a mile long sequence of waterfalls hidden in the woods, with a maintained trail and picnic area.
Rent a bike or canoe at the Holiday Centre in Garrison. Horseback riding is also popular with stables in two nearby towns.
Take an unlimited number of scenic drives with Roosky as your base. Drive up the Barr Road behind us for commanding views of Lough Melvin and Donegal Bay. Discover breathtaking sea cliffs and ocean vistas along Donegal Bay to Slieve League.
HOPPING, DINING, ENTERTAINMENT
Ready for town life? Shopping, dining, entertainment, people watching….it's all within easy reach. In seaside Bundoran, (15 minutes) you'll find great seafood and Continental restaurants,casual pubs, live local entertainment and even game arcades. "Waterworld" is located here where you will find an indoor pool, sauna and waterslide for the whole family. The nearby towns of Kinlough, Mullaghmore, Cliffonney, Blacklion and many other villages have unique restaurants with superb cuisine.
Donegal town known for it's tweeds has an interesting town center with lots of shops, restaurants, pubs and an historic castle that is not to be missed. Take the tour there with a local guide. Sligo is the largest nearby town offering museums, shops, restaurants, traditional pubs featuring Irish music and the Hawks Well Theatre. Both towns are only a ½ hour from Roosky Cottage.
Depending on the time of the year, partake in local festivals featuring Irish music, arts and crafts. Sligo, Ballyshannon and Donegal host festival in the summer months.
