SoDa's FIRST Bike Check

hey, I started riding seriously when I was 28, and placing pretty well in National Competitions..!!
To begin with, I would recommend getting to know your bike, and it's parts. Learn what each part is, and it's function. There aren't a LOT of parts, compared to a car or something, so it will be easy to become familiar with.
Learn the benefits of various tyre pressure, because depending on what style you want to ride, it varies greatly, anywhere from 65psi for park riding, to 120+ psi for Flatland.
Learn some basic tricks, and their names. There are tons all over Youtube, so get looking.
Small 'personal preference' things, like handle-bar sweep, seat height, positioning of the wheel in the rear dropout, fork offset… these things aren't vital to the functioning of the bike, but are more of a case of personal preference, how you like your bike to feel, compared to other peoples bike.
Overall, the more time you spend on your bike, the more comfortable and confident you will be with riding. Have fun with it, it's an awesome sport/hobby..!!
