How much would it cost to replace a right front wheel bearing?
What should i expect to pay in parts and labor to have a right front wheel bearing replaced on a 4x4 1991 Ford Explorer.
I actually looked this up for you. You can go to a shop and get a menu price bearing repack for $69.99. The bearings without mark up, run $24.99 each including the races. That $69.99 maintenance repack will be thrown in to combination labor now. The labor is $69.99 ($29.99 during a maintenance brake job). Since you have a 4x4, that adds 2.0 hours labor. Some shops have a menu price on 4x4 serviceable wheel bearing repacks. You will spend about $100.00 in parts after they are marked up, shop supplies etc, and then roughly you can count on 2 hours labor at the shop's hourly rate. I would tend to agree this will run about $300.00.

Front Wheel Drive tricks
what is the difference between a 2 wheel drive and a front wheel drive?
I am a senior citizen and my son say I should stick with a front wheel drive vehicle, as that's what I'm used to driving.
Big difference in the handeling of vehicle then.
A front wheel drive is a two wheel drive where the drive wheels are in front. A rear wheel drive is a two wheel drive where the drive wheels are in the back. Drive wheels are the wheels that turn to push or pull the car to make it go. In four wheel or all wheel drive vehicles, all the wheels are drive wheels. Under normal driving conditions, you wouldn't notice much of a difference between any of them. You may notice the difference if the pavement is slick as with rain, ice or snow.
If your looking for advice, I'd recomend the frontwheel drive, also, especially if that is what you've been driving for a while.
most of the time you can check which hub assy. its by driving and swaying to one side or the other. the noise will change one way or the other. it will go away some or get worse.
if you sway to the left and it changes. more than likely its the right and vice vers. But you could also check to make sure theres no rocks or dibree in between the backing plate and rotor if there is one.
