Freewheel Bike
On my multi-speed bike, the freewheel stopped grabbing the wheel, so now the pedals spin freely. Easy to fix?
Seems like something under the hub would have come apart, but I can't find the solution by internet search.
The bike is new, and tapping the axle with a wrench or hammer fixes the problem until it slips again. I can't get into the drum underneath the freewheel, where the problem obviously is, even after taking off the freewheel. I guess I carry a hammer with me when I bicycle until I can get a new bike.
Maybe.
They're called "pawls" and depending on the age/ model / condition of the freewheel might not be worth fixing.
What happens on old ones is they get gummed up and the pawl springs don't work anymore.
Before you replace it, try cleaning it thoroughly with a good strong solvent. It works best if you remove the freewheel from the hub and soak it.

Hey anyone know where i can get a decent cheap freewheel for my bike?
I have a 3 peace redline crank
the sprocket is 28T n the back sprocket is 11T
Im trying to get freewheel on it but idk what i need to get
any help?
Try eBay. You can always ask the seller there questions about the item they have for sale. Most sellers are honest people and will give you an honest answer. If the item is being offered in an auction, you should cross check the price of the item at a few bicycle retailers before you make a bid. Some sellers ask for more than the item might cost at Amazon, for example. And don't forget to figure tax, postage and handling into the cost of the item.
That’s absolute bullshit. Riding fixed on the streets is neither more dangerous than any other bike, nor is it less efficient or less practical. You can make ridiculous statements like that without backing them up or you could learn about fixed gears and see why they’re just as safe as other bikes. Also, you say you ride without a front brake on your freewheel bike, which can only generate as much stopping power as a brakeless fixie, so the only difference between your bike and a brakeless fixie is coasting, which has nothing to do with safety.
