Cleaning/deodorizing foam bead cushion?
I have a squishy cushion made of Lycra and filled with styrofoam beads (MOGU brand, one of those squishy elastic ones that are really comfortable to hold). I washed it in a machine on cold cycle and let it air dry, but now it smells badly of mould. I have tried drying it both in the sun and in a dryer, but the mouldy smell won't go away.
There's no inner cover, just one layer, so it's not possible to wash the outside separately. The cushion has to be handled carefully so it doesn't tear and spill the foam bead filling. What's the best way to clean these cushions? How can I get rid of the smell? Thanks.
Wash it again and add 1/2 cup borax to the wash. Then, add 1/2 cup vinegar to the rinse. Hang it outside to dry.
