How to make a fixed gear bike?
I wanted to know how to make a fixed gear bike from a mountain bike. Moreover, the parts needed and where to get them. I'd appreciate anything anyone can tell me.
it is pretty difficult to turn a mountain bike into a fixed gear since mountain bikes usually have vertical drop outs instead of horizontal but it can be done. you have to re-bulid the wheel completely using a fixed hub or a flip flop hub

good luck but if you really want to enjoy the beauty of fixed gear use a road bike when i converted my mountain bike to fixed the chain kept falling off because the geometry just isnt perfect make sure you use one of those gizmos to keep the chain tight

Whats the reason for size difference in fixed gear bikes?
im 5"6 and im really interested in buying a fixed gear bike, but i dont understand the sizing. My friend told me that i should get a 51cm fixed gear, because i am a size 30 inseam, but hes 5"7 and he rides a 53cm. Main differences?
Inseam size is more important then height. You want a top tube height that is 1-2 inches lower then your inseam so you have clearance. Your friend probably has a 32 inch inseam which is two inches more then you but he is only 1 inch taller.
Inseam X .65 X 2.54 = frame in cm
30 x .65 x 2.54 = 49.5 cm
