BMX tubes.... they keep popping i need help?
i keep popping my tubes does it have something to do with the psi? its not my tire or rim i'm riding a brand new super thick tire and a brand new eastern 2-9er rim
i ride street
First, make sure that the rim strip is in good shape.....if it's shifted out of position, has holes in it, or is missing altogether, then the spoke nipples can puncture the tube from the inside and sometimes the tube can be cut on the nipple holes where the edges are sharp.
If you're pinch flatting, then run your tires at max psi, listed on the sidewall of the tire. If you want a little more give instead of a rock-hard tire, then run the super-heavy thorn resistant tubes. They weigh a ton but they'll stop pinch flats most of the time. I know people that run both max pressure and the heavy tubes, but they have cheaper tires with a lower max.....if it were me I'd get a better quality tire that will handle 100-120psi and lose the heavy tubes.
One other thing you might be able to do is run a wider tire.....the air volume increases exponentially and helps a lot to prevent pinch flats when riding street. Use the largest that your frame/fork can handle.
Hope this helps some.
