Should I Get The 2011 WE THE PEOPLE VOLTA or 2011 EASTERN BOSS?
I am 5' 0'' tall (ft/in) and have decided to get one of this bikes after months of research. I want the one that will probably fit me better. I know the VOLTA has better parts but it is heavier and has a 21.00 top tube. The BOSS has a 20.50 top tube and a low frame. It looks cool and easy to do tricks on its just how comfortable is It to ride? Also I will be riding this bmx bike 1.7 mi to school. that makes a difference. I will also be using it every day as I have giant 7' dirt jumps in my neighborhood 20 sec from my house. I also live close to rye airfield and ride street too. Thanks.
Eastern's are EXTREMELY weak. My friend is really light and snapped a frame at the headtube within 2 weeks of buying a 2010 Eastern Boss. Also, you will be able to find HUNDREDS of pictures of broken Eastern parts. Sure, all parts break, but Eastern puts weight in front of strength, so their parts break really easily.
The Volta is 24 lbs, 1 lbs heavier than the Eastern, and a whole pound under the average weight of a BMX bike. If you can't use a 24 lbs bike, there's something wrong with you. I bunnyhop stem-height with a 27 lbs bike every day.
Low frames (Like on The Boss) are a lot weaker. This is because the closer a frame is to a equilateral triangle, the stronger it will be. The Boss is very far away from an equilateral triangle, making it weaker than a normal frame. A low frame, plus it being an Eastern, is a horrible recipe for disaster. Also, you say you want it to be comfortable. Having a low frame is the direct opposite of comfortable.
WeThePeople has developed a very good reputation, while Eastern is known throughout the BMX world as being one of the worst companies.
In conclusion, if you want to look cool, get The Boss. If you want a bike that will last more than 2 weeks, get the Volta.
