Clamp Red
After doing x-clamp fix, my xbox gets 2 red lights immediately. what do i do?
I started off with the e-74 error. so i did the x-clamp fix and now when i turn it on immediately it has the 2 overheat lights flashing. What do i do??
I should add that when doing the xclamp fix i voided the warrenty, so no sending back for me..
Everything that was necessary to be done for the xcalmp fix was done so I dont understand whats wrong
Did you reapply new thermal paste when you installed the GPU/CPU heatsinks? That would cause it to overheat if you kept the old paste on it. Did you hook up the fans and plugged them back in? When I repaired my 360's RROD, I forgot to plug in the fans and mine overheated. I had to open it and connect the wires.

Xbox Red Light Fix - Do You Have Rrod? Fix it Now!
If your first edition Xbox 360 has fallen victim to the Red Ring of Death, you may need to repair it yourself. This may be a frightening idea for some, but the source of the problem is faulty construction and only requires a few new screws and some finger dexterity, and this xbox red light fix guide. With a couple bucks and a couple of hours you can do this from the comfort of your own home.
Overheating was the overall conclusion as the source of the red ring error. This was the result of several defective parts working either separately or in conjunction. Remove the outer shell of your xbox and locate the motherboard. Pull the motherboard out and locate the X-clamps on the underside. Beneath the clamps is the heat sink, and beneath that are the CPU and the GPU. Remove the X-clamps and heat sink carefully and clean them, especially if there is debris on the heat sink. Any stray material that gets onto the heat sink will cause disruption on the electrical flow. Reapply a thermal compound to the heat sink to ensure proper insulation. When you reattach the X-clamps, though, replace the screws as the original ones Microsoft used already weaken just from the standard amount of heat emitted from the machine. Replace the cover, and you are done.
Occasionally, though, this won't solve the problem, in which case it is likely the graphics card. The in-house card the Microsoft designed gave off too much heat and, of course, caused the unit to overheat. Microsoft replaced these during their warranty frenzy, but in later editions of the console, used a better graphics chip from an outside company who specializes in top-of-the-line graphics cards. If you have to replace this yourself, you can repeat the process to get to the GPU, but you'll also have to pay for the card itself.
