What is a good started BMX for a reasonable price?
Hi, I live in Canada
I want to buy a BMX bike that is fairly light, preferably under $300, and come stock with the smaller chainwheel (The front gear)
a good bmx starter bike is the Intense crabtree i have a 2008 and i love it , it has a 36 tooth front chainwheel which is bigger than the smaller chainwheels but if you are just starting to ride bmx it is perfect but, the newer models have the smaller chainwheels i highly recomend it
That is really cool, congratulations! Make sure the price on it hasn’t skyrocketted before you give your boy the bike. Old school BMX prices keep going up and up.

If you are only riding around town on paved roads – why get a mountain bike? Wider knobby tires will only make it more difficult to pedal. For the same $$$ you can get a 2010 Schwinn Voyageur GS with 700x40C tires that will roll MUCH easier & faster than a mountain bike in the city.
