Stolen BMX bike on Craigs List What to Do?
My son's $1300 bmx bike was stolen 8 months ago and is now on craigs list. We filed a police report at the time and have a picture from the seller that matches pictures my son had taken. We contacted the police but they do not seem very motivated to go after the bike. I do not feel comfortable about confronting a criminal. Are there other options? Hire a private detective?
The police department should have a detective that handles those types of cases. You can always ask the district attorneys office for advice.

A couple BMX bike questions?
Need some info from a BMX expert if your out there. My son is saving for a BMX bike. In the meantime he asks me questions about these bikes and I have no clue. Yesterday, he found a picture of a bike that was"just what he wanted." All I know is its a BMX type ( I think), but is it considered "freestyle" or what. Now he's got me curious too. This bike has brakes on both sides of the handlebar. I have only seen them with brake levers on the right side of the handlebar. So another question is- Why does this one have two, and wouldn't they get all tangled and prevent the handlebars from spinning during tricks. I think I need to go to BMX 101. Please check the picture out below.

First of all, if you need to get the 'basics' on BMX bikes. You can google some websites. There you should be able to find the info you need. Also, there are racing and freestyle bikes (and other types as well, but not sure). But the bike youre looking at is most likely a freestyle. They usually come with brakes on both sides (front and rear wheel). That is because its used to do tricks and stunts that require the rider to have control over braking the front and/or back tires. You can also check out Youtube for tutorials on BMX tricks. Yeah, I know, I doubt you want to start trying them, but it will help you understand why there are different bikes and different styles, as well as how the tricks are performed. Its actually pretty entertaining... like circus tricks...LOL Good luck.
PS: nice to see u finally posting something
