Should I start BMX, tips please?
I currently skateboard and I see people doing bike tricks at the skate park all the time. I still want to skateboard, but I would like to do BMX too. If someone could give me some tips on starting up with BMX, that would be awesome. Here's what I need to know:
Cost of a bike: New or used, possible to get one for under 300 USD?
Kind of Bike (brand): The brands that my local bike shop have are Trek's BMX, free agent, and Eastern (which at the moment seems like the best option)
Where to get quality parts: Normal bike shop, online, or a BMX shop. The bike shop is the closest, the BMX shop is about half hour away
Anything else I'd need to know
ok now trust me your doing the right thing in switching to bmx.
First what you need to know is that their arent as many bails as on a skateboard but if you do fall then its 5 times more painful than skateboard but at least you get tricks more constant.
Now a bike cheaper than 300 will not be good to my experience, they are heavy and weak and ugly.
Now trek is a mountain bike company so dont get that, free agent?, and easterns are good until u fall
then everything goes a friend of mine had an eartern hub and rim then sudenly the rim cracks, he goes over his bars and breaks his jaw amd a couple of teeth.
Usally in bike shops they only sell Animal bmx parts which are good i mean but theirs better.
I have a bike for about 800 dollars and i built it with all differnt parts like eclat, demo, odessye, madera, united, mecahnik................
All my parts i got were from danscomp.com a bmx superstore good prices, and almost every bmx part and frame thats the best or thats hot right now

If you want to get a really good bike save up a 100 dollars more and get a blackeye ( my frame is a blackeye T1 really strong a light) or a kink you can also look into subrosa's and united bikes
