Black powder coming off sides of anodized cookware?
I had this hard anodized aluminum cookware for a year now. It had a flat black finish on the outside with a non-stick coating on the inside. I know I was supposed to hand wash it but I got lazy and have been dishwashing it. Lately I noticed that the flat black finish was turning into a powder and coming off exposing the metallic part underneath. Should I be worried about the powder being toxic and should I get new pots?
The non-stick coating on the inside is still intact. I just don't want to expose my family to tons of aluminum. Thanks.
It's a little tough to answer without actually seeing it; I've never seen anodized coatings degrade. They may have coated the pan with paint for appearance sakes in addition to the anodizing. I doubt your dishwasher had much to do with it. What you describe as a powder is consistant with aluminum oxide (i.e. the way aluminum "rusts") if it's chalky and white. It's not specifically harmful, however, some people think long term exposure can contribute to such things as Alzheimer's. If you use underarm deodorant, you're probably getting a bigger dose there - check the label. Your peace-of-mind is probably more at risk, so if you at all concerned, replace it. Personally I'd opt for stainless steel. Aluminum is not the best choice for cookware. Stainless steel heats more evenly and holds heat longer. Aluminum heats quickly, but unevenly.

titanium vs surgical steel piercings in black?
can anybody tell me what the difference between anodized black titanium and black pvd coated surgical steel is?
titanium is better, right? but what's the difference in the black coatings?
what's the difference between anodized black and pvd black? is it the same thing?
i usually get black pvd coated surgical steel piercings but after a couple of months the black wears away revealing a dark grey color. i like my piercings to be REALLY black, so what's best for me? thank you xx
Titanium is the "better" material for piercings, but both pvd coated surgical steel and anodized titanium will fade after some time.

I was supposed to take an exam at 1.30pm yesterday, and 10.50am the same day, I was told that there was no need to take it since I missed 3 days at the beginning of the term, which my father already faxed them the permission x(
It was good as I hadn't revised enough, but I was so angry about the way she (my course director) treated me, her manners and voice tones when she talked to me x( she were really rude, she looked at me like I was a real disaster (-_-!) she said “you have jeopardised the future of all students taking January exam…” ……. wtf!!! -_-
yeah, that's all. hehe no need to worry now ^^ i'll take that exam in June then :>
