2007 Gt Bmx Bikes

BMX Help?? Beginner:)?
Well i have a bmx bike, a GT Compe 2007 and i have never done bmx before. I'm thinking of doing flatland because i can do it at home and stuff. So i'm wondering:
1. Is it a good bike??
2. what should be the first trick to learn
3. I'm having trouble with the barspin: How are you meannt to lift up the bars when both hands are on one handle? or is their a different technique?
Thankss in advance
Hey bud
Well, the Compe isn't a bad bike, but for Flatland, you could do a lot better. However, unless you really have a passion for Flatland, or know the difference between a Flatland bike and a Park bike, most people will try Flatland with a bike bought from a bmx shop. The downsides to trying Flatland on a bike like ur's are..
- It's too heavy. You will find it harder than it actually is, to do Flatland on ur bike, and it might discourage you from learning.
- It's too long, especially in the top tube area. This makes tricks harder to do.
- The cranks are too long, the bars have too much sweep, the stem is too long, they tyres are probably wrong for flatland (smooth tyres are best, and with at least 100psi), the seat post is too short, andhaving a freecoaster for a back hub is recommended.
Lol I know I probably put you off Flatland, now, but believe me, a bike like this one ( http://flatlandfuel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1310) will make Flatland so much easier to do.
But in saying all that, you still CAN do Flatland with ur bike, just bear in mind all the things I mentioned above. Most of the things on ur bike can be changed or upgraded, easily and cheaply, so if u wanna get serious about Flatland, just invest in some better parts.
As for the first trick to learn, I recommend these ones. They are easy, you can learn them quick, and they look cool, too ![]()

If you want a great instructional dvd, buy this... http://flatlandfuel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=630 It's the same dvd as the clip above that teaches the barspin. It's an awesome dvd, highly recommended.
Just check out how cool Flatland looks when ur THIS good... http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=MKJ2Unj3GTs
Hope you enjoy it, bro!! Remember, it's harder than ANY other form of BMX, but it's well worth the time you put into it. Email me if you have any more questions about anything
